Golfer
Golf became part of my life almost 20 years ago, and somewhere along the way it became much bigger than a hobby. It challenged me mentally, humbled me regularly, frustrated me plenty of times, and gave me a kind of peace I did not expect when I first picked up a club.
Over the years, I’ve traveled to play golf in different cities, walked onto courses where I did not know a single person, and learned how to become comfortable in spaces that did not always feel familiar at first. I’ve played great rounds, terrible rounds, and rounds where I spent more time laughing than keeping score. I’ve seen snakes, armadillos, deer, turtles, and just about everything else wander across a golf course. I’ve met people from completely different backgrounds, built friendships through the game, and learned that golf has a way of revealing your patience, confidence, attitude, and mindset very quickly.
What I love most about golf is that there is always another chance. A bad hole does not end the round. A bad round does not end your game. You keep going, adjust, regroup, and try again. There is a life lesson in that.
In 2023, I founded DFW Elite Golf League because I wanted to help create a more welcoming and supportive space for people who may have felt intimidated by golf or unsure where to begin. A lot of people are interested in the game but assume they started too late, cannot afford it, or will not fit in. I wanted to build something different. DFW Elite Golf League is a growing co-ed golf community where beginners, returning golfers, and experienced players can learn, play, network, travel, and enjoy the game together without unnecessary pressure or judgment.
Golf also became part of my larger personal journey of reinvention after 60. It reminded me that there is still room to grow, challenge yourself, meet new people, travel, learn new skills, and discover new passions at any stage of life. That mindset extends beyond golf and into the way I now approach life overall.
